Dr. T. Haque is a well-known agricultural economist. He has worked at various capacities with Government of India for more than 2 decades. Dr. Haque served as a consultant to several international organizations such as ILO, FAO, AARDO, The World Bank and ICA.
He also served as visiting Fellow to IFPRI, U.S.A. Oxford University, U.K., and University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Haque has worked as member/chairman of several professional societies, working groups and advisory boards of Planning Commission, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, CII, ICAR, NIRD, HIRD, and others.
Dr. Haque is also known as a land expert in India and abroad. He has been associated with land-related issues in South Asian countries for quite a long time. He was the National Coordinator and Member, Technical Advisory Group of the Land Governance Assessment Framework (LGAF), implemented by the World Bank in collaboration with the Dept. of Land Resources, Govt. of India. He was also the advisor to the World Bank commissioned studies on “Operationalization of Gender Equitable Land Tenure Governance in Odisha in the context of the VGGT” and “Monitoring Women’s Land Rights in India in the context of the SDGs”. He has been working as an Advisor to Landesa, which works more than 40 countries. He is presently heading the ten member committee constituted by NITI Aayog to review the tenancy laws of various states. He has authored, co-authored and edited more than 100 publications including books like “Land Policies for inclusive Growth”.
